Environmentally friendly products at work in the resource industry...

The West Moberly First Nations and their economic development partner, Dunne-za Ventures LP continue to move forward with their effort to bring leading edge, environmentally friendly products into the world of resource exploration and development.

West Moberly/Dunne-Za is initiating use of a new type of terrain protection – a customized, composite mat.  In mid 2008, they formed a working relationship with Edmonton's Terrapro Group of Companies. Terrapro supplies a range of rugged, light weight, easily cleaned access and terrain protection mats with an interlocking joining system that allows for load transfer between mats delivering the capacity to support extremely heavy loads on soft ground.  An 8” by 8’ by 40’ mat has been load tested (using industry standard test procedures) to carry a load of 100,000 pounds dead weight resulting in less than 3” maximum deflection.

West Moberly/Dunne-Za faces several hundred creek crossings in the scope of their projects so the light weight, buoyant Terrapro mats facilitate those while protecting fragile stream edge environments.  The light weight is a factor in additional environmental benefits as transportation costs are minimized and the units require little manpower to handle.  Their non-absorbent, easy-to-clean surfaces also make it possible to eliminate vegetative and chemical site cross contamination.

West Moberly/Dunne-za is actively involved in serious discussions with major energy producers and exploration companies regarding the implementation of these specialized products.
